Meet Your Instructor
I’m Maria Virgínia Barros.
Over the years, I’ve worked as a language specialist, refining my translation and subtitling skills for clients who want their international videos to connect across cultures.
For me, successful subtitling means the viewer forgets they’re reading and simply experiences the story.
My love of poetry, which I explore on my blog Sítio da Saudade, has sharpened my attention to detail and my commitment to finding the perfect turn of phrase.
Subtitles, when done effectively, become a seamless layer, allowing viewers to fully absorb the content, whether it’s a film’s atmosphere or a training’s insights.
That’s why I developed these online courses: to share what I’ve learned and help you build a rewarding career in this creative, dynamic field.

Master in AI, Translation and New Tech for Audiovisual Translation
This three-month professional Master’s program teaches you how to combine traditional AVT expertise with AI, automation, and project management skills that companies actually need right now.
You’ll learn subtitling, dubbing, audio description, game localization, and SDH from working professionals who run localization companies and manage global teams.
Then you’ll discover how to integrate AI tools strategically into your workflow, when to use them, when to rely on human judgment, and how to evaluate new technologies as they emerge.
This program prepares you for the media localization market as it exists today, not as it was five years ago.
You’ll combine proven AVT techniques with practical AI knowledge, ethical implementation strategies, and the business skills to lead innovation in a competitive industry.
