I’m Maria Virgínia Barros.

Over the years, I’ve worked as a language specialist, refining my translation and subtitling skills for clients who want their international videos to connect across cultures.

For me, successful subtitling means the viewer forgets they’re reading and simply experiences the story.

My love of poetry, which I explore on my blog Sítio da Saudade, has sharpened my attention to detail and my commitment to finding the perfect turn of phrase.

Subtitles, when done effectively, become a seamless layer, allowing viewers to fully absorb the content, whether it’s a film’s atmosphere or a training’s insights.

That’s why I developed these online courses: to share what I’ve learned and help you build a rewarding career in this creative, dynamic field.

Destinado a quem já domina o básico e quer trabalhar como legendador freelance profissional.

Aprofunda o Subtitle Edit, integra ferramentas de IA como o Whisper para transcrição automática e usa tradução automática com sentido crítico.

Aborda também a legendagem para dispositivos móveis e vídeo vertical, um formato em crescimento nas redes sociais, com regras próprias de tipografia, segmentação e entrega.

Subtitling course annoucement

(EN) Subtitling 360°: Professional Subtitling Course from Beginner to Pro (Ed. V)

Hands-on subtitling course in English, starting in November. Builds professional skills from the ground up, no prior experience required.

You’ll learn subtitle timing, text reduction, segmentation, and formatting using Subtitle Edit, a free industry tool.

Every session includes practical exercises with real subtitling projects, working with formats like SRT and ASS and metrics like WPM, CPS, and CPL for streaming, broadcast, social, and mobile content.

By the end, you’ll have hands-on experience for your portfolio and a clear understanding of how AI tools fit into a professional subtitling workflow, including when to trust them and when to edit their output.

When: 23-27 November 2026 (18.00 CET)
