Have you heard of the FOSS movement?
Who would have thought that a subtitling software could have a philosophy of social inclusion?
This was the topic I presented at the recent ATAV Portugal event, Construir Pontes 2024.
FOSS stands for Free Open-Source Software.
I’ve taken the opportunity to dispel some common myths about FOSS:
*Myth: FOSS software is low quality
Truth: Many open-source projects are highly reliable and used by large companies
*Myth: FOSS software does not have any support
Truth: There are many communities that support FOSS projects
*Myth: Free software is only for coders
Truth: FOSS is used by people of all levels of technical expertise, from home users to large corporations
Subtitle Edit fits perfectly this profile.
It’s a versatile and user-friendly tool that’s ideal for subtitlers of all skill levels.
